Resin Wicker Furniture in Our Outdoor Living Area
When it comes down to weather resistance and never ending durability resin wicker furniture is the one to choose for your outdoor living. When we mention wicker we usually think of the furniture our grandparents used in their enclosed sunporches. Resin wicker is a completely different material for outdoor furniture; it’s made of a synthetic material that will last for many years in the outdoors. If our grandparents wanted to use their wicker furniture in their backyard, they had to remember to bring it indoors every night.
Wicker furniture is considered the classic of all outdoor furniture because of its feel and the way it looks. Resin wicker garden furniture is starting to dominate the outdoor furniture industry. It is very appealing looking and it still looks like wicker furniture. The strength, the resistance to outdoor elements, the new designs and color are some of the added benefits of resin wicker furniture.
Top quality resin wicker is considerably undefeatable to just about any of the worst weather conditions possible. The radiance of the sun in summer and the wet snow of winter will not harm this beautiful furniture. Classic wicker furniture is woven of palm fibers and resin wicker is woven of synthetic polymer strands, therefore their construction is very similar but resin wicker is much sturdier. Resin wicker furniture comes in a variety of colors and because the polymer strands are flexible gives a designer the ability to create different shapes and sizes of furniture.
Resin wicker furniture and all-weather wicker are inherently the same thing. You may also find this outdoor furniture classified as outdoor or synthetic rattan, or vinyl wicker; this just means it was constructed from synthetic material.
There are two types of polymers that are used for making synthetic furniture and they are polyethylene and polyvinyl chloride. Polyethylene is a better quality and much better for the environment than polyvinyl chloride, which is actually PVC. Polyethylene, the preferred choice, will withstand a temperature range between -58 degrees F to 302 degrees F and when it is combined with additives during the processing makes it highly UV resistant.
The framework of resin wicker furniture can be made of aluminum or powder coated steel. Both materials are extremely durable and will resist rust. Aluminum is the material of choice because it won’t expand or weaken as steel often does. Aluminum is light weight and easy to move about the patio, and non oxidized aluminum and aluminum “rust” are the same color and unnoticeable. Powder coated steel and aluminum will both work just fine as frames for the furniture, it is just that aluminum has a few more advantages. Resin wicker furniture for any outdoor living area seems to be the best choice for any homeowner.
