Tooth Saw
OMFG I saw a freaking tooth in the back of my mouth and itz gonna be pulled out! Please Help!?
It is best if a dentist or oral surgeon pulls it out. If anyone else offers to pull it, do not agree to have it pulled. When they pull it, it usually does not take very long at all. If you have ever had a filling, it will probably take less time than the filling you had–you won’t even have to deal with the annoying drill sounds.
It is the swelling and drooling afterwards that is annoying.
Get prepared for this by buying some flexible cold packs you can have ready. After you have the tooth pulled, put the cold pack that is wrapped in fabric on the side of your face that has the pulled tooth. The cold will lessen the swelling and pain. It is important to wrap the cold packs in a t-shirt so the cold packs don’t give you frostbite or skin damage. The dentist should tell you how long to use the cold packs.
The dentist will probably give you some pain pills to take. But you may be lucky and not have much pain. You will use the cold for the first 1-2 days, until the swelling is down good. Then you will alternate hot packs and cold packs to encourage blood flow to the area and promote healing.
Your dentist will help you decide what anesthetic to use. Some dentists offer laughing gas. Some people use only novocaine shots in their gum if they are not nervous. The novocaine shots are sometimes enough to keep people from pain. If you have pain at any time, you should wave your hands at your dentist so they can stop. Other anesthetic like a twilight sleep may keep you from remembering having your tooth pulled.
Have soft foods ready because your mouth will be sore and not up to chewing. Have some jello, avocados, peas, shredded brisket or other meat from a food processor, and such foods. If you take the pain pills, eat lots of food when you take one. If you don’t eat lots of food with the pill, you might throw-up.
Don’t drink from a straw and do not drink carbonated beverages or the blood clot in the space where the tooth was could be dislodged. That will cause pain.
The dentist should give you a syringe to irrigate the area. You will have to squirt water into the hole where the tooth was. It is not as hard as it sounds.
Gently rinse your mouth with warm salt water by tilting your head so the salt water washes over the pulled tooth site.
If the tooth isn’t bothering you, you can risk not having it pulled out, but if you have all of your teeth, this wisdom tooth could crowd the others and cause problems later.
I hope you have a relaxing recovery. Take it easy and watch a few movies after you have it pulled.
