Essentials of Screw Wrench
During the process of new plumbing installation, replacement or repairing we have seen that some jobs are so easy. We feel that these jobs can be done by ourselves but at the same time we feel the non availability of the relevant tools. It means that the tools are very important. By this article we want to advise the viewers to have some tools of plumbing in the home for some replacements and repairing which can be done by the viewers just like a professional plumber. We discuss some problems about the plumbing appliances and tools.
Screw wrench is such plumbing tool which can be used to open and fix the taps, showers, stoppers and valves of different sizes. This wrench has the jaw adjustable to different sizes. Often all the taps, valves, and showers used in a plumbing system are of the same size.
Stoppers can be having different size. If we have the screw wrench, difference of sizes of the appliances is not a problem because its jaw is adjustable as per the size. We have also seen during the fitting of taps etc. that a compound and cotton thread is used to avoid the water leakage. Both are not costly items and very much available from the plumbing stores.
Some time we find the leakage of any tap, valve or shower. It is in our knowledge that this device is not repairable, and is to be replaced by a new one. We can easily buy this device from a store telling the size of the same. When shopkeeper shows us the requisite device, we can understand whether or not it has the same size. Thus we are successful to have a new device.
Thereafter we have to remove the old and fit a new one; it is so easy to remove to leaking tap, shower, valve or stopper. Adjusting the wrench as per required size and twisting it into the required direction we can remove the leaking tap etc. and replace by a new tap etc.
The leakage of any above said devices is very common and when occurs, it is painful in many ways. Some time the leakage is due to lose fitting of the device and it can be tight within seconds and leakage can be avoided. It is possible if we have the wrench in home.
If to stop the leakage of taps etc. we call a plumber, of course we have to pay for the service. If we compare the service charges to the price of a screw wrench, both can be about equal and it is also possible in this time of costly services that the charges of plumber exceed the price of wrench. Supposed the service charges are less than the price of wrench, it is positive thing that wrench usable in future also. Thus by using more than once, we can save our money which we spend for easily solvable problems of plumbing. The other benefit of such self service is that we can save our precious time.
