Will military pay for GEO bachelor to fly home to see baby born?
My husband goes on leave in Dec, my Dr is inducing me into labor on the 21st so my husband will have as much time with the baby. I will be 39 weeks on that date. I am trying to find out if the military will pay to fly him home. Due to being Christmas time plane tickets are running 2000 round trip from Alaska. So its putting a crunch on everything. Any info would be great! He is stationed at Ft Wainwright.

Ok I am understanding them not paying for him to fly home, but what if they would not let me the wife go to Alaska with him. EFMP thing?
No the military does not pay for plane tickets for personnel to go to family during holidays or for children being born. The only time the military pays for a ticket is if they are overseas in a combat zone for 12 months or longer and going on R&R. he will have to pay for the ticket himself out of pocket. He could look into flying Space A from Alaska to Washington state possibly then flying commerical from there.
ETA: He isn’t a Geo Bachelor he is unaccompanied orders. They will still not pay for his ticket home for the birth of the child because he has unaccompanied orders, it is your cost.
