Laser Engraver Buyer’s Guide
What is laser engraving?
The laser engraving machine uses a beam of light as the engraving tool, so no part of the machinery actually touches the material being engraved. You don’t need a special system to hold down your engraving material. The engraved words and graphs do not fade and can exist permanently and can avoid being forged effectively.
Related definitions of laser engraver:
Engraving: all laser progressing systems are called engraving, which are divided into scanning mode and cutting mode.
Cutting: laser light is moving on the lines of design graphics, leaving the demanded image on the engraved materials
Scanning: laser light is moving horizontally or vertically among the design image field, and to complete the image wholly on the processed material. This method can be used to label/marks cutting or plate making in detail.
Label/marks making: laser light is adjusted to the minimum to adjust many kinds of label marking.
Plating engraving: laser light is adjusted to specific amount, can leaving a pit with a specific depth. This kind of method is used to cutting double sides printing plates whose gradient can be adjusted.
Relief scripture: changing the different grade degree into depth degree when scanning to get the relief scripture
gradient: usually, transmitting from material surface to scanning parts is vertically down. To full fill the printing demand, going down can be realized by a slope gradually, which is called gradient.

How to choose best suitable engraving machine for you?
Laser engravers can be divided into professional laser engraving machine, professional laser marking engraving, professional laser cutting. Following advices maybe help to choose a laser engraver:
(1)What kinds of engraved materials you want to choose:
laser engravers can be generally divide into two kinds: YAG and CO2. the first one is special designed for metal engraving medias, the second one is for non-metal medias, which takes a larger parts in the engraving market.
(2)What kinds of application you want to get:
engraving equipments can be generally divided into laser engraver, laser cutter, and laser marker according to different using methods. Some are multifunction equipments, and some are special engravers just for one function.
(3)How large the engraved area is:
it is also the demand to the format of laser engravers. However, there is not a rule for the equipment that: the larger, the better. The most suitable one is the best one.
(4)laser tube power:
laser tube power will be different according to the engraved medias, or contents.

How much power do I need?
10 Watts –Low power level for light engraving.
25-35 Watts –It is special for stamp carving and simple engraving and thin material cutting, not recommended for thick cutting or dual head applications.
40-50 Watts –Medium production power level for deeper, high speed engraving and slightly thick cutting operations.
60-80 Watts –High production power level provides increased throughput, deep engraving and cutting. Ideal for precision engraving and cutting.
100-150 Watts – Very high production power level that is ideal for heavy cutting and deep, higher throughput engraving. For example, if you want to cut acrylic of thickness of over 3mm (include 3mm); you can choose high power lasers.
(5)Engraving speed:
More profit can be realize in short time with high working speed. So speed is the important factor on whether you can get the orders and get the profits.
(6)Engraving solutions:
The most obvious difference between the laser machine and the traditional engraver is the high solution. High solution laser engravers can get to 1000DPI

(8)General to consider the quality and cost:
Not all laser engraving machines are the same quality or are composed of the same materials. Depending on the different equipment the quality of engraving machines can vary greatly. For this reason, cheaper engraving machines are not always the best ones for you, only machines with reasonable price and accord with your application are your best choice.
(9)Others:
Apart from above mentioned features, there are a couple of other things to remember when choosing engraving machines. Good mechanical design is also important for you; it makes your working more stable and convenient. Some optical device can extend machine’s application.
