How do I attatch segments of homemade rope together so they wont come apart?
I have created rope from dried grass and it is fantastic. I want to put a bunch of them together to make a longer rope but I cannot find a decent set of instructions on how to do it. I’m using the reverse twist method.
You can use the knots from the military Air Assault School, which is an end line bolin with two half hitches. I will try to explain:
If you know how to make a square knot, your ahead of the curve, if not read on.
Start off with one piece in each hand, then go right over left, then left over right (not a granny knot), then pull tight leaving about 4″ of rope tails on either end of the knot, Make a loop with one end and twist it away from the knot, insert the tail up through the bottom and pull that side tight, repeat the other side.
We used this knot when we made out repelling harnesses out of ropse for Air Assault school…they are tough.
