Deburring Equipment – Be Familiar with Processes
Deburring equipment is a type of equipment that is designed to remove surface defects from molded parts and castings. These defects include burrs. The equipment also chamfers corners, radiuses corners, rounds off edges that are sharp, and de-flashes molded parts. It can also smooth parting lines. Machines that remove burr can use various tools and processes. Some examples of these tools are abrasive brush deburring or wire deburring, thermal deburring, sandblasting, hydro deburring, chemical deburring, electrochemical deburring, and abrasive flow machining. Several of these processes are called by other names as well, and some terms are abbreviated.
Deburring machines and deburring equipment are available to use finishing techniques. Some of the tools that this equipment may use include chamfering tools, rotary burrs, and non-woven wheels or discs for surface conditioning and fixed abrasive finishing. In order to select this equipment, you must first have knowledge and understanding of its processes. Some processes you may want to familiarize yourself with are vibratory deburring, electrochemical deburring, and thermal deburring. Vibratory deburring uses a polyurethane liner that is thick-cast. This so that mobility will be easy and sound will be abated. Electrochemical deburring, also called ECD, sends electrical energy to an area on the surface of a part. Thermal deburring provides heat for operations of surface finishing that is both instantaneous and intense.
Deburring equipment is able to work in several modes. These modes are robotic, automatic, fixtured, off-hand and manual. Many factors help to improve the component’s strength, such as eliminating concentrators that will contribute to stress, achieving a surface condition that is smooth, generating a geometric radius that is accurate, and removing burrs. This strength is important when the components have load cycles of a high number that to which they are exposed regularly. The technology that is used will change the specifications that are allowed for the equipment.
This equipment can also be used to produce flow components that are high-purity or high-cleanliness. These components can be either pharmaceutical or semiconductor. These components may include flow controllers, regulators, housing, valve bodies, reducers, tees, elbows and tube fittings. Deburring equipment can also be used in various other industrial applications. Some of these applications are mechanical components like shafts, hubs, and disks. Other components include combustion engine parts like jet engine blades, nozzle and spray orifices, medical devices, manifolds, and injectors. It can also be used for the finishing of molds and dies.
