Types of Pumps for Hire – An Overview
This article will give a simple and brief overview of what the different types of rentable pumps are, and what they can do.
Types of leasable pumps
As well as general purpose pumps (used for pit de-watering, tailings disposal, slurry transfer, ash handling, water boosting and pipeline filling and testing), other types of hireable pumps include:
Silenced & Super Silenced Pumps
Silenced and super silenced pumps ensure pumping operations comply with noise control restrictions. They are specifically designed to pump clear water, sludge and slurry effectively and reliably, while still meeting the requirements of European and Global noise legislation.
Typical applications include building and construction sites, over-pumping, Local Government works, site de-watering, sewer repairs, utilities, quarries, civil engineering, and any pumping schemes close to residential or commercial areas.
Submersible Hydraulic Pumps
These types of hired pumps (which are driven by an integral hydraulic motor) are used when suction lift requirements exceed nine metres for diesel-driven pump sets.
Designed for applications that involve concentrated solids such as sewage, waste water, chemicals and dredging; no suction or lift restrictions mean certain types of hired submersible hydraulic pumps can handle more than 50 per cent dry solids.
Electric Submersible Drainage & Sludge Pumps
These pumping units for drainage and sludge removal (at all manner of sites) are fully portable and provide hours of unattended operation. In their range at the depots across the country, a specialist pump hire company will have a wide selection of models (of different sizes).
Electric Submersible Waste Water Pumps
These pumps are designed to meet the pumping demands of the UK water industry, with water companies, such as Thames Water, Severn Trent Water, Wessex Water and The Environment Agency, all utilising hired submersible sewage pumps in both planned and emergency situations (for the pumping of clean water or sewage, and for a highly-mixed infrastructure across rural and urban locations).
