mos 25p (microwave system op/maint.) ait ft. gordon … KOREA????
my husband just changed his mos and is at fort gordon now for mos 25p (microwave systems operator/maintenance) and he’s hearing that a lot of people are going to korea… is that everyone? he said something about his company being bravo and papa??? im really worried about this we have a 3 month old and he missed the birth and has seen her for 3 days… any information would help!
Korea is one of the popular spots for microwave techs to be stationed. They are line-of-site (LOS) communication. In Korea, it is very mountainous and microwave is the cheapest/easiest way to do it. (They shoot from mountain top to mountain top for a max of 60 miles)
It’s a short tour area (12 months). After 6 months, he’ll be able to take mid-tour leave for 30 days (longer if he has more leave built up).
Microwave is not used much by the military, but Korea is one of them. Fiber-optic and Satellite, along with UHF/VHF are more in use now.
At one time, they were looking for Micowave techs to go to Satellite school, maybe he can check out that option.
