How to use your Every Day Oils …
The Young Living Everyday Oils Kit contains everything you need to start using essential oils every day for everything from first aid, to boosting your immunity and even cleaning your house.

Each time you reach for your customary solution to fight germs, ease congestion, pain or stress, ask yourself…can I do this naturally? Step away from the chemicals and reach for your oils.
The following guide will help familiarize you with the properties of each of these oils.
Frankincense
Currently being studied as a possible treatment for cancer, Frankincense has been used for thousands of years to treat every conceivable ailment that mankind has suffered. During ancient times, frankincense was valued more than gold. It stimulates your immune system, is antidepressant and muscle relaxing. It also contains sesquiterpenes which stimulate the limbic system of the brain and improves focus and memory. Frankincense has cicatrisant properties, which means it helps wounds heal and has the ability to fade existing scar tissue.

At the first sign of a cold, rub a few drops on the soles of your feet. Or better yet, put a few drops on a spoon and swallow it down with some water, much like a pill.
For young, glowing skin, put a few drops on your palm, rub hands together and apply to your face.
If you’re feeling fuzzy and having a difficult time focusing, rub one or two drops of Frankincense oil behind your ears.
1-2 drops directly on a bug bite will immediately ease itching and swelling
Inhale or diffuse to deepen breathing and induce calmness.
Dilute a few drops in organic olive oil and apply to stretch marks, acne scars or any other scars to fade their appearance. Do this daily until you see improvement.
Rub on the feet or the back of the neck to soothe overactive children.

Lavender
Lavender essential oil has been treasured for thousands of years as one of nature’s greatest gifts for healing and it might be the most versatile of all essential oils. It is effective in treating anything that ails the skin and may be used to clean cuts and treat bruises, rashes and skin irritations.
Lavender is well known for it’s soothing properties and as an aid in relaxation. Researchers have documented Lavender’s ability to improve concentration and mental acuity. Lavender is a powerful antihistamine and effective in treating bug bites and seasonal allergies.

Massage into the back of the neck or the bottom of the feet for a calming effect.
Rub a drop on your palm and smooth over pillow to aid with sleep.
Soothe a minor burn by applying 2-3 drops to the affected area.
Place a drop on the tip of the tongue, around the navel, or behind the ears to allay the symptoms of motion sickness.
Add a few drops to a cotton ball and place in closets and drawers to scent linens and repel moths and insects.
Reduce or minimize scar tissue by massaging on affected areas.
Place a few drops on a wet cloth and place in your dryer to freshen your laundry.
Diffuse to minimize seasonal reactions to pollen and dust mites.
Put a drop of Lavender oil on a bee sting or insect bite to stop itching and reduce swelling.
Replace your underarm deodorant with 2 – 4 drops of Lavender oil.
Rub a drop of Lavender oil between your palms and inhale deeply to help alleviate the symptoms of hay fever. You may even take 3-4 drops on a spoon to help with seasonal allergies.
Diffuse Lavender oil to relieve stress, lift your spirits, or relieve feelings of sadness.
Mix a few drops of Lavender oil with a few drops of massage oil and rub onto sore muscles for relief.
Use Lavender to relieve dry, chapped lips.
Spritz several drops of Lavender oil mixed with distilled water on a sunburn to decrease pain.

Lemon
Lemon oil has antiseptic-like properties, contains compounds that have been studied for their ability to boost white blood cell count, and is rich in d-limonene, which is now being studied as a significant chemopreventive agent in cancer.
When inhaled or diffused, it promotes clarity of thought and purpose. Studies have shown that diffusing Lemon oil in the workplace resulted in 54% fewer errors. Additionally, it is astoundingly effective at cutting through grease, gum and adhesives.
NOTE: Citrus oils should NOT be applied to skin that will be exposed to direct sunlight or ultraviolet light within 72 hours.

Use 1-2 drops to remove gum, oil, grease spots, glue or adhesive, and crayon on most surfaces.
Substitute Lemon oil for lemon juice to flavor seafood, vegetables, beverages, and desserts.
A few drops in a pitcher of ice water make for a refreshing and energizing summer time cooler.
Combine 2-3 drops with water in a spray bottle and use to clean and sanitize countertops, freshen the air and even remove waxes and pesticides from produce.
Fill a bowl with cold water, add 2-3 drops of oil, and soak apple slices to slow oxidation.
Add a drop to your dishwasher before the wash cycle for spot-free dishes.
Use a few drops of Lemon oil to disinfect and shine chrome on fixtures and appliances in your kitchen or bathroom.
Add 1 drop of Lemon oil to a basic shortbread recipe and enjoy a distinct difference!
Disinfect your sponge with 1 drop of Lemon oil.
Use as a waterless hand sanitizer.
Place a drop on oily skin or blemishes to help balance oil glands and minimize oil production.
Take 2 drops orally to boost immunity.
Rub two drops of Lemon oil topically to help clear athlete’s foot.
Diffuse Lemon oil in the air at home, office, or school for an uplifting, energizing feeling.

Peppermint
Peppermint is one of the oldest and most often used herbs for soothing digestion. The muscle relaxing property of peppermint oil has been found to ease irritable bowel syndrome. This has been validated through preliminary scientific research though the exact mechanism is still unknown. Research shows the inhalation of peppermint oil helps trigger a sense of fullness after meals, enhance your sense of taste and smell, and improve concentration and mental activity.
Peppermint is a calcium antagonist and might help to reduce blood pressure. According to the Mayo Clinic, calcium channel blockers, or calcium antagonists, treat a variety of conditions, such as high blood pressure, migraines and Raynaud’s disease.
Peppermint has also been studied for its ability to ease respiratory ailments. Cooling and soothing on the skin, it can relieve soreness and allay fever.

Add a drop of Peppermint oil to herbal tea to help with digestion.
Peppermint oil will reduce pain and inflammation if massaged onto an injury (avoid open wounds).
For headache relief, apply a drop of Peppermint oil to the temples, forehead, over the sinuses (avoid the eyes) and on the back of the neck.
Massage Peppermint oil on the bottoms of the feet to reduce fever.
Apply a drop of Peppermint oil topically on unbroken skin to stop itching from bug bites or poison ivy.
To kill aphids add 4-5 drops of Peppermint oil to 4 ounces of water and spray your garden.
Place a drop of Peppermint oil on the tongue to stop bad breath.
Inhale Peppermint oil before and during a workout to boost your mood and reduce fatigue.
Massage several drops of Peppermint oil on the abdomen to relieve nausea.
Diffusing Peppermint oil will help improve concentration and accuracy. Inhaling Peppermint oil during a test may improve recall.
Inhale Peppermint oil to relieve nasal and sinus congestion.
Add Peppermint oil to food or water as a flavoring and a preservative.
Deter pests (rats, mice, ants or cockroaches) by placing a cotton ball treated with two drops of Peppermint oil at their point of entry.
Rub Peppermint oil on joints to relieve arthritis or tendonitis pain.
Instead of indulging in dessert, inhale Peppermint oil to curb the appetite and lessen the impulse to overeat.
To combat drowsiness, put a drop of Peppermint on your tongue under your nose. It will increase your alertness.

PanAway
PanAway essential oil blend is a proprietary blend of helichrysum, wintergreen, clove, and peppermint designed to relieve muscle soreness and treat injury and tension.
Looking at the components of this oil…
Helichrysum is anesthetic and has been studied by European researchers for regenerating tissue and improving circulation. (Increasing circulation to an injured area promotes healing.)
Wintergreen has an active constituent similar to cortisone and is highly anti-inflammatory. Applying wintergreen in the area of an injury will contract the blood vessels and slow bleeding. (Avoid applying directly to an open wound.)
Clove has analgesic and warming properties. It contains eugenol, used by dentists to numb gums and is used as a topical antiseptic.
Peppermint’s role as a calcium antagonist is believed to help relieve pain. It also improves circulation to an injured area.

Apply PanAway oil topically on an injured area to reduce inflammation and bruising.
Apply PanAway oil topically to sore muscles after exercising.
Rub a drop of PanAway oil on the temples, forehead and back of the neck to relieve a headache.
Mix PanAway oil with massage oil and massage where it hurts to relieve growing pains.
Rub 1-2 drops of PanAway oil on arthritic hands to lessen pain.
Rub 2-3 drops of PanAway oil at the base of the spine to relieve sciatic pain.
Relieve muscle soreness all over by mixing 2-4 drops to Epsom or Sea Salt and adding to bath water.

Peace & Calming
Peace & Calming is a gentle blend, especially designed for diffusing. It promotes relaxation and a deep sense of peace. It can calm tensions and uplift spirits by evoking positive emotions. Peace & Calming may be especially calming and comforting to young children after an overactive and stressful day.
This unique blend contains Tangerine, Orange, Ylang Ylang, Patchouli and Blue Tansy.
Looking at the components of this oil…
Tangerine is a calming essential oil that helps with occasional nervous irritability. It contains esters and aldehydes that are sedating and calming.
Orange also reduces anxiety and tension. A 1995 Mie University study found that citrus fragrances boosted immunity, induced relaxation and reduced depression.
Ylang Ylang is credited with being able to combat anger and low self-esteem. It can increase focus of thoughts and restore confidence and peace.
Patchouli is a relaxant that helps to clarify thoughts and release jealousy and insecurity.
Blue Tansy promotes a feeling of comfort and self-control. It may also help to calm the lymphatic system which enables the body’s immune system to work efficiently.

Diffusing Peace & Calming in your room before bed may promote deep relaxation and aid in lucid dreaming.
Rub 1-2 drops on the bottom of feet and on the shoulders before bedtime to help get a good night’s sleep.
Diffuse to help calm overactive children and pets.
One or two drops applied to the bottoms of feet or in a warm bath will soothe fussy babies.
If you experience anxiety in cars, trains or crowded conditions, carry Peace & Calming with you to allay your fears.
Mix with massage oil for a soothing, relaxing massage.
Rub on the temples and the stomach to help soothe the mind and alleviate stress and anxiety.
Add several drops to a warm bath to relax the mind and body.
Wear behind the ears or on the wrists for calming.
Add several drops to water in a spray bottle and lightly mist linens and bed pillows to aid with peaceful sleep.
For anxiety place a drop or two on your finger, then applying directly on location where the skull meets the neck. Doing this every 10-15 minutes and continue until after a deep calming occurs. Repeated applications will enhance the effects.

Purification
Blended for the purpose of diffusing, Purification will cleanse and sanitize the air and neutralize mildew, cigarette smoke, and other disagreeable odors. It is an ideal alternative to using chemical-filled sprays around the home. It can also be used directly on the skin to cleanse and soothe insect bites, cuts, and scrapes.
Purification contains citronella, lemongrass, rosemary, melaleuca, lavandin and myrtle.
Looking at the components of this oil…
Citronella has a refreshing and uplifting fragrance, but is also powerfully antioxidant, antibacterial, antifungal, anti-inflammatory and insect repellent.
Lemongrass is antifungal, antibacterial and antiparasitic. It can regenerate connective tissues and ligaments, dilate blood vessels and improve circulation and lymph flow. Rosemary is antifungal, antibacterial and antiparasitic. University researchers have also determined that inhaling rosemary boosted alertness, eased anxiety and increased analytic ability. Rosemary is an effective means of controlling mold.
Melaleuca alternifolia, more commonly known as tea tree oil, is antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral antiparasitic and anti-inflammatory. It is also possesses analgesic and cicatrizant (wound-healing) qualities. It helps the skin to heal by encouraging the formation of scar tissue.
Lavandin is a cousin of lavender and has wound-healing properties and supports general skin health. It is also antibacterial and antifungal. Because this blend contains lavandin, rather than true lavender, it is not appropriate to apply to burns.
Myrtle has antiseptic properties and is particularly effective in treating blemishes, bruises, oily skin and psoriasis. It has also been researched for its effects on glandular imbalances.

Put on cotton balls to place in the air vents of the car, hotel room and office to purify the air when away from home.
Add Purification to a dishwasher or washing machine to kill bacteria.
Add a few drops to a water-filled spray bottle and spritz to clean the air or household surfaces.
Rub Purification on exposed skin to avoid bug bites.
Diffuse to neutralize mildew or other disagreeable odors and clean the air of bacteria.
Cleanse and soothe insect bites, cuts, and scrapes.
Combine several drops with water in a spray bottle and use to repel insects.
The same combination can be used on linens to help with bed bugs. Bring this when you travel and spray the contents of your suitcase when you check out of a hotel.
Place a drop on insect bites to cleanse and soothe itching.
Apply a drop on blemishes to help clear skin.
Blend with lemon oil and water in a spray bottle to use as an air freshener and purifier.
Rub a drop on your hands after using a public restroom.
Use it to cleanse and soothe skin and combat the effects of painful bites from spiders, bees, hornets, and wasps.
Mix twenty drops of Purification with one cup of baking soda and sprinkle in your kitty’s litter box.
Use a few drops of Purification on a cloth to remove hard-water stains.
Replace your chemical-based daily shower spray by mixing one part water, 2 parts vinegar and 20 drops of Purification in a spray bottle.

Thieves
This special blend of oils is based on research about four French robbers who protected themselves with aromatics while they plundered the homes of plague victims. The cleansing abilities of this blend has been tested by university researchers. It is also highly effective in supporting the immune system.
The Thieves blend contains, clove, lemon, cinnamon bark, eucalyptus radiata and rosemary.
Looking at the components of this oil…
Clove oil is nature’s richest source of eugenol, is the highest-scoring single ingredient tested for its antioxidant capacity on the ORAC scale (Oxygen Radical Absorbance Capacity-a measurement of antioxidant capacities). Clove is antimicrobial, antifungal, antiviral, analgesic and anti-inflammatory. It is also known for its immune-enhancing properties.
Lemon oil is a powerful antioxidant and is 68% d-limonene, a compound that promotes glutathione production and helps to cleanse the body of toxins.
Cinnamon Bark is high in antioxidants and is purported to be both a preventative and a curative for the common cold. It is anti-inflammatory, antibacterial, antiviral and antifungal.
Eucalyptus Radiata is highly effective in treating coughing, sniffles, and a hoarse or scratchy throat. It is antibacterial, antiviral and expectorant. Because it is relatively gentle and nonirritating, it is the preferred choice for treating children.
Rosemary is naturally energizing and may be beneficial for helping restore mental alertness when experiencing fatigue. It is antifungal, antitumoral, antibacterial and antiparasitic.

Add 2-3 drops to a spoonful of agave and take daily to boost immunity.
Drop 4-5 drops onto a dryer sheet to freshen laundry.
Add 4-5 drops of oil to dishwater or dishwasher to thoroughly clean dishes and eliminate bacteria and odor.
Diffuse to eliminate bacteria and odors in the air.
Drop directly on the tongue to eliminate unpleasant breath.
Apply directly to the bottoms of the feet for immune support, especially during winter or while traveling.
Add to cinnamon sticks or to potpourri for home fragrance.
Dilute with a carrier oil and apply to cuts or open wounds to prevent infection and promote healing.
Mix with a tablespoon of water, gargle and swallow for a sore throat.
Apply undiluted directly to the skin of your upper chest and throat for bronchitis.
Place a drop on your thumb and apply to the roof of your mouth for a headache.
Apply to gums to prevent and treat gum disease.
Diffuse in the home to solve mold problems.
Rub on the bottoms of children’s feet for protection before school every day.
Mix 50:50 with a carrier oil and rub on daily for relief of shingles.
Put a few drops in your carpet steamer/cleaner to disinfect carpet.
Inhale directly or apply topically for sinus headaches.
Mix with baking soda to clean bathtubs.
Sanitize pierced earrings.
Apply 1 drop of Thieves Oil Blend onto toothbrush kill germs.

Valor
Valor is an amazing blend meant to empower the physical and spiritual bodies to overcome fear and opposition when facing adversity. The balancing properties of this blend aid in visualizing and attaining self empowerment. Valor is considered a powerful precursor-magnifying the results in the application of other oils or treatments, such as the Raindrop technique, massage or chiropractic therapy.
Valor contains spruce, blue tansy, rosewood, and frankincense.

Rosewood is considered an emotionally stabilizing oil. It is soothing and nourishing to the skin. It is anti-infectious, antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, and antiparasitic.
Blue Tansy induces relaxation and can be used to ease nervous tension and stress. It may help cleanse the liver and calm the lymphatic system, helping one to overcome anger and negative emotions and promoting a feeling of self-control.
