What is a Recruitment Meeting? Ted Baker London?
I’ve asked a Ted Baker store in London for a part time job, the man took in my CV and told me to come on a Monday morning when they are having a recruitment morning. What is it ? Is it recruitment on the spot?
Also, I am 16 years of age and ofcourse the man saw this on my CV and didnt seem to have a problem with my request of a part time job there.
However do you think it will narrow my chances of getting the job compared to others?

A recruitment morning usually means they are having a session at the store where they invite a number of people looking for work, give some general information about what working there means, minimum qualifications, age, experience, expectations of employees, possibly have someone there from their Personnel/Human Resources Department to do this or to answer questions. It’s quicker and more effective for big employers to do this with groups of potential employees rather than a member of staff keep having to repeat it again and again to every individual who makes an enquiry. Usually, once they have told you all something about it, they will give our application forms so that people still interested can complete them and apply for the job. It’s unlikely, but not impossible, that they will condict individual interviews there and then, but diffrent companies work different ways so it’s possible.
Whatever they do, if you intend to got to this meeting, you shoud present yourself in good time (be 10 minutes early, never late, and dress and groom yourself as if you were going to work. Presentatio is always important to an employer, but especially so in the fashion industry. Take note of the style and presentation of existing staff and try to fit in with the right degree of smart or casual dress. Look clean and tidy. If you have visible piercings or tattoos take them out or cover them up – very few employers welcome these. Make sure your hair, nails etc are clean and tidy and that you have decent clean shoes on. Do not overdress or overdo the make-up. It’s not a night out.
Try to think of some sensible questions to ask about the job – but make sure the first question you ask is not “how much will I get paiod?” Employers want to know that you are interested in working for THEM, not just any old job, so look on Ted Baker’s website and find out something about the company.
If you attend, get an interview and then don’t get a job offer, thank them for the opportunity and ask for some feedback if possible, so that you can learn something to take to the next interview.
Good luck! You should congratulate yourself that you have jumped at least one major hurdle, and that’s to find an employer who is actually taking people on – not so easy at the present time!
