HSBC data protection act, microfiche?
As a preliminary to reclaiming bank charges, I’m using the DPA to get all my account info from HSBC.
They’re claiming that they only hold 6 years worth, but I personally doubt this very much. It’s well known that most of the other banks hold archives on microfiche/microfilm or similar.
Does anyone have any proof or further information regarding this please? Perhaps HSBC have sent you a letter admitting that they hold the data on microfiche, or maybe you’re a HSBC employee who knows what goes on.
They’re playing a game of cat and mouse with me, trying to hinder me at every step, and I’m desperate for anything which might help me figure out how they are keeping my data from me
Sorry, I should have said that this question relates specifically to UK law, and HSBC’s UK division
Don’t know about UK, but in US a lawyer would compel them to produce the data by submitting a subpoena to a civil court, the court would readily approve it, and your data would be made available (takes time), but they have the bank has the right to charge you for the effort to collect/copy/print the data.
