My new house was built in 1985. I have a prefab gas log fireplace. I want to convert it to log.?
Who do I call to come tell me if it can be safely converted and where do I find the mfg. and model number on it??
Two types of gas logs exist, VENTED & VENTLESS…..If you have “vented” gas logs then you can use wood in your fireplace with no issues. If you have “Ventless” logs then your fireplace and chimney may only be cosmetic and not an actual fireplace. I would recommend having the chimney cleaned and inspected by a proffesional first.
