The Fundamental Principle
The hydraulic cylinders work on the principle of pressurized fluids. In general, hydraulic cylinder will comprise of 3 main parts – a barrel in which the fluid will be filled, a piston which acts as a seal to create the required thrust by moving back and forth and a piston rod to haul out the work output of the hydraulic cylinder.
A hydraulic cylinder is based on the principle of Pascal’s law which states that, “a change in the pressure of an enclosed incompressible fluid is conveyed undiminished to every part of the fluid and to the surfaces of its container.” The huge force delivered by the pressurized fluid used for heavy lifting purposes. We can find them in our daily life such as cranes, hydraulic brakes, crush heavy materials, and destroy buildings. The basic function of hydraulic cylinders is same but it can be used for various purposes.
