how does a lever lock switchblade work? jw?
A standard non-switchblade lever lock knife simply has a notch in the blade hinge end that a little metal stud engages once open to lock the blade in the open position. The lever, when pressed, withdraws the little metal stud from the notch and the blade closes. It’s exactly like a standard lockback knife except the lever lock is on the side of the blade and not the back.
A switchblade, being spring-loaded, has to have the notch/hole on the other side of the blade’s hinge end to lock it closed instead of open. When you press the lever, it withdraws the stud from the notch and the blade pops open.

This pic shows a good view of the lever. Just imagine a little tiny steel stud, mounted with a spring, on the inside of that hinge. When you press the lever, it withdraws the stud.
On the standard lockback ala a Bearpaw, you press the backlock to release and close the blade. If it were a switchblade, the notch would be on the opposite side of the blade hinge and you would press it to open it.
