Do you need an air lock on a fermenter for brewing?
I have looked at a variety of sites and some say yes and some say no. I just bought an 8gal mini-brew fermenter. there is a lid but it is not air tight. Should I purchase the air lock kit for brewing beer.

i bought it on ebay for cheaper this is just the website of the product.
you spent $350 on a fermenter and you don’t know if you should use an airlock? are you jumping into homebrewing with both feet? if so take the time to read a good book or two and buy yourself an airlock. if you were just using a carboy I’d say you could probably get away with using a piece of foil but I don’t think that would work with this thing.
for what it’s worth, that looks like a nice piece of equipment and I am jealous.
