Air soft beginner help?
It is my first time buying an air soft gun and everyone recommended i buy a good one. this was the one i was looking at: http://www.palcosports.com/catalog_product.cfm?prod=130911
As a beginner i have a few questions.
1. Does the gun shoot to hard to have fun with friends? (target practice or shooting each other)
2. What kind of maintenance will be required? Ex. lubricating gearbox? (how would i do that?)
3. Will using biodegradable bbs ruin the gun or make it shoot less hard or accurately? what kinds are the best?
4. Will i need any attachments like a scope?
5. Is the gun a good gun?
6. Do i need more clips or a speed loader?
7. Any other things i might need to know.
That gun is overpriced. Yes it has blowback but on clone guns this breaks easily and isnt really even necessary. Below is a link to G&Gs plastica series. The bodies are plastic but its not the cheap plastic you see on spring pistols. These are almost as good as G&Gs regular line up, the internals are nearly identical, but the bodies are plastic.

1. No. The more a gun hurts the less you will play with friends (Not that it hurts that much anyway.)
2. Get 100% silicon oil and use the cleaning rod with some paper towel attached to swab out your barrel after a few hundred shots. DO NOT USE WD-40! ED-40 will break down the rubber seals in your gun and will ruin it. Only use 100% silicon oil.
3. Nah, BIO BBs only disintegrate in a few years. Using them is purely a matter of choice. Accuracy is determined by weight, size, and quality. Ive experimented around with BBs somewhat and found that Madbull BBs give me better accuracy in my internally stock KWA M16 than G&Gs BBs. This is because G&Gs BBs are 5.95mm across, and Madbulls are 5.98 mm across. Yes the difference is noticible.
4. Scopes are personal preference. You wont need anything with over 4x magnification, especially since you look like youre going to go with an MP5 you might want to get an MP5 red dot (it has special mounting brackets since MP5s dont normally come with a rail attached)
5. As said above, no. I reccomend the ones I linked to since with the money you save you can buy mags/ batteries/ upgrades. If you go with a G&G proline then they come from the factory with a 6.04 mm tightbore barrel.
6. Magazines. Not a clip. Magazines enclose ammunition completely, clips aid in loading a bolt action rifle. Or in the case of the SKS, they load the internal magazine. Speedloaders help, I reccomend carrying at least two unless you use hicap magazines.
7. 100% silicon oil only, as I already said. And never play without full seal eye protection. If you arent able to make it to any sanctioned airsoft games, only play where nobody passing by can see you.
yeah… the guy above me is an idiot. There is NO need to oil the trigger mech since there are electrical contacts in there. And blowing into the barrel simply moves the dirt further back so more can accumulate, shortening the life of your gun. Airsoft can be something you shoot around with once and hate, or an obsession that you find yourself spending massive amounts of money on (like me, Im a member of the unofficial $1k+ club! Go me, right?) Now I dont say that to say Oh Im so much better than you are. I say that because Ive owned everything from AEGs (Fullsize rifles down to carbines further down to SMGs) Spring powered bolt action sniper rifles (not as fun as CoD 4 makes it out to be, let me tell you. Waiting sucks hahaha) And a couple of gas powered pistols. You dont need to have the latest gear and guns to have fun, for the longest time I was playing with walmart minis and spring pistol that literally spat WD40 when fired because I thought it would make my FPS go up… Needless to say I stopped that practice when I got my first real AEG
