HOYER LIFT
Hoyer Lift is an efficient technological device, making use of the hydraulic power to transfer critical patients from one place to another. Sling lift or patient lifts are a few other names which are used to refer to it. Hoyer lift is a reliable device which is used by many hospitals to assist them move patients who are incapable of moving or those who are a bit too more on the heavier side. The efficiency of this device can be easily judged from the fact that these medical lifts reduce the chances of a fracture that might occur during shifting the patient. Also, the scope of using the Hoyer lifts is not only limited to human beings. These devices are even used by many scientists to examine undiscovered areas amongst various life forms (life infant-squids), mainly where the subject is either too bulky, or too sensitive to be transferred into a new position / location. These lifts are also used at times for transferring the patients who have been a victim of asthmatic or heart attacks or in case of infant fits (where utter care is needed as the subject is armed-on with the nebulizer machines and continuous syringes even while making the transfer…and that too in a short interval of time). These lifts can either be manual or battery operated.
Where on one hand, manual patient lifts feature a hydraulic cylinder and a hand-pump for maneuvering, thereby providing the most economical strategy for making a safe transfer…the battery operated ones on the other hand, are enabled with a power source and motorized layout connected to digital or normal switches / buttons. These battery operated lifts have been specifically designed to shift a patient from a bed to chair or other places keeping in mind the extra care needed in assisting the patient and the anxiety levels of the patient, which often shoot up during such moments. Thus battery operated sling lifts have a very user friendly power system which keeps a check on the adrenaline gush flowing through the patient nerves by giving them an assurance of safe transfer. Choices are often made depending on the need and taking into account the pocket of the patient, but no matter what it is…it is an extreme boon which can help transport a patient from one place to the other, regardless of weight. Hoyer lifts are always provided with specially designed pumps for easy manipulation, and it gives the Hoyer lift an upper hand over and other traditional technique.
Hoyer lifts are available in various upgrades in the market, depending upon the area where it is needed. Say, for patients only needing support for rehabilitation and but capable enough of holding up some of the self-weight, there is a stand-up Hoyer lift that can be brought into use. This upgrade of the Hoyer lift has a sling that gives patients, a bit of assistance when going to a commode or trying to stand up. On the contrary, if a patient is bariatric i.e. who is too heavy to be lifted manually, there is heavy-duty Hoyer lift which is capable enough to hold up a weight of up to a thousand pounds. Possibilities are still there that a Hoyer lift is needed for home care use. For that, people can avail of the overhead patient Hoyer lift which is easy to set up and can be moved to any part of the house — allowing caregivers to easily move patients from one place to another. but the list does not end up here. There is also a swimming pool lift designed for therapeutic activity, allowing the user more freedom on the lower body’s movement. This tool is generally used for exercise purposes, and is normally situated in an in-ground pool.
Thus, to burn the entire usage of Hoyer lifts into a single line – Hoyer lifts have proved to be a boon for the quick and safe transfer of critical patients.
