Is Laser School The Right Move For You?

Going back to school doesn’t have to mean going to a standard four year college and getting a bachelor’s degree. It can mean going to a trade school, such as veterinary, auto or laser schools. Trade schools focus strictly on one subject and prepare a student to graduate with the skills they need to enter the workforce immediately. One of the most popular trade schools today is skin and hair laser school. A person, 18 years or older can get a laser certification in less than 2 years, and depending on what they specialize in, they can get a laser certification even earlier.

Why is Laser School So Popular?

Laser certification is one of most coveted certifications because of the demand in the market and the lucrative salary that comes with it. Perhaps it’s the baby boomers refusing to grow old or the education and awareness of laser skin and hair treatments that has people coming in droves for treatments. Whatever it is, people are spending money to look and feel better regardless of insurance coverage. It’s not just Americans, Europe and Asia has also seen an increase in laser and plastic surgery treatments.

A new report by Global Industry Analysts, Inc. forecasts demand for cosmetic surgery procures to reach $15.13 billion by 2012. That is a lot of money and people looking to change careers and graduates out of high school are looking to get a slice of that pie.

Laser School Curriculum
Just like several careers out there, laser school isn’t for everyone. Some of the curriculum involved may include:

• Education about lasers
• Laser equipment, uses and safety precautions
• Skin and hair analysis and determining patient needs

• Pre and post treatment care
• Business and marketing

Getting a laser certification also requires several hours of hands on training. Most laser schools, like beauty schools have a training salon that is open to the public where students can get hands on training working with real people in a medical spa setting and learn first hand how to perform laser procedures. The demand for derma fillers, Microderm abrasion and laser hair removal continues to rise at astonishing levels. Some places are even offering “lunchtime lipo” for people looking for a fast way to lose a couple inches in a short amount of time.
