Cavalier King Charles Spaniels As Family Pets
Speaking of pet royalty, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are definitely what pet lovers would consider, “the cream of the crop.” As their name suggests, even royalties of years past such as King Charles of England completely adored dogs of this breed because aside from the fact that they are exceptionally affectionate dogs, they are extremely efficient lap dogs as well. In fact, not only King Charles, but most women of eras past made use of the company of these dogs to warm up their feet and laps during cold winter months.
Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are essentially small and fragile creatures. As with other toy breeds or small dog breeds, being extra cautious around these dogs comes with the territory. However, this is not to say that Cavalier King Charles Spaniels are high maintenance dogs either. In fact, they make excellent family pets.
The reason behind this is that Cavalier King Charles Spaniels love being in the company of others–not just their owners but other people and pets alike. Their easy-going nature makes them a perfect fit within any family structure. They specifically enjoy snuggling and playing with others.
In addition to this, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels adapt well to various living conditions. They are not particularly picky about their living space so it doesn’t matter whether you live in a home with a yard or in an apartment.
Just like any other dog, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels love the outdoors. They appreciate being taken out for regular walks and play-time. But after all, small dogs aren’t really for long walks as they are about more frequent short trips out. The good thing about this is that you want have to treat taking them out on walks as a chore. Short walks would suffice and you won’t have to worry about your dog tiring you out.
Perhaps the only thing to watch out for with these dogs is the fact that they tend to become overly attached to their owners. Thus, it is likely that they may become quite anxious or skittish whenever left alone for long periods of time. Another trait to watch out for is their natural tendency to chase or run after things such as cars and smaller animals. Just as a precaution, keep careful watch of your dog, especially when outdoors.
With that said, rest assured that when it comes to selecting appropriate family pets, Cavalier King Charles Spaniels always come first.
