The Benefits and Care of Down Bedding
An all natural down comforter brings a touch of luxury, and has benefits not found in comforters made from synthetic materials. Now lets talk about the long term care of your investment. When it comes time to launder your down comforter, use cold water and a front loading wash machine, like the kind you find in a laundry mat. The agitating machines like found in most homes can destroy the comforter. A gentle cycle of cold water will do a good job, and protect your investment for many years.
As for detergent, use a mild detergent that is meant for hand washing and delicate items. Down when wet, will give off a pungent odor. Don’t be alarmed, or add more detergent, as this is natural. The drying process will eliminate this odor. Use an extra rinse cycle to make sure the detergent is gone.
Drying is an important part of the laundering process. Use a medium to high heat and it will require a second drying cycle. Comforters take a long time to dry. Use a large dryer with plenty of capacity to tumble. You have now laundered your down comforter for many more uses.
