Brother Hl-5170Dn – Network Ready Version Of The Hl-5150D
The Brother HL-5170DN electrophotographic laser printer is a beefed up version of a popular Brother model, the HL-5150D. Complete with all the speed and power of the latter , the HL-5170DN comes equipped with network capabilities. Take advantage of the 5170DNs external 10/100 BaseT Ethernet port(NC-2100p) or upgrade to the external 802.11b wireless print server (NC-2200w) to add powerful print capabilities to your network. Your home office or small business will be streamlined with cordless connection to your printer from any computer in the office with wireless capabilities, or simply plug in using the Ethernet port. If you’re unfamiliar with network management, you’ll have no trouble setting up your printer using the full range of provided network management software: BRAdmin Professional, Brother Web-Based Management, Driver Deployment Wizard, and Web-BRAdmin6.
Another advantage the HL-5170DN has over the HL-5150D is a built in 32 MBs of memory, compared to 16 MBs in the lesser model, which is further expandable to up to 160 MBs, as opposed to 144 MBs. If you choose to go with the 160 MB upgrade, your printer will be spooling up huge amounts of data coming from your entire network with little to no slowdown, and processing it fast with the speedy Fujitsu SPARClite 133MHz.
For a slight price bump, your business will be supporting a professional grade network printer equipped with all the solid hardware standard in the HL-5150D, such as the professional grade 21 page per minute print speed, and HQ1200 resolution (up to 2400×600dpi). You can even upgrade the 250 sheet paper tray with a second one of equal size to free up extra time that you could be spending doing tedious paper reloads.
On top of the expandable paper tray and built in standard tray, the HL-5170DN stands out among similar models with a convenient 50 sheet multi purpose tray, whereas other models can only be hand fed oddly shaped documents one by one, making it possible to print an entire stack of envelopes or letterhead without taking the time to put them through an adjustable slot one by one.
Compatibility will not be a problem with the Brother HL-5170DN; on top of the network capabilities, this baby was designed to communicate and comes with both USB and Parallel ports which can interface with both Macintosh operating software and PCs equipped with Windows. PCL-6 and BR-Script3come standard for maximum incorporation into your businesses print capable software.
Interested in less waste? This Energy star compliant unit operates with both a standby mode and a full on sleep mode, stretching your electrical uses a little farther and, if that doesn’t sound exciting, the automatic duplexing will. Auto duplexing makes printing on both sides of your documents completely automated and contained within the unit, which not only saves you paper, but also makes for professional looking documents that are sure to impress clients, as well as save space.
