What is the best general purpose handgun? I want it for home protection as well as recreation.?
I am interested in hearing suggestions from experienced handgun owners who have experience with a wide variety of handguns.
Suggestions on caliber, brand, and model would be great. Please dont say korth cause I cant afford it….lol.
Ruger GP100 .357 magnum with 6″ barrel. It is well built, accurate and simple to operate. It is also an extremely effective home defense weapon. Also, you can fire .38 Special ammunition out of it for practice. .38′s have very little recoil out of this revolver.

One thing to consider if you plan to shoot a lot is ammunition cost. Even though I would prefer other calibers in a defensive handgun 9mm ammo is hard to beat on cost.
You might want to check the cost of ammunition for different calibers.
