I need to find a compression fitting to use on 3/4 galvanized pipe where it enters the house?.?
No Threads on the pipe, it broke off. I tried a standard steel compression fitting but the pressure blew it off fast. I need something that will bite into the pipe end and keep it on under pressure, does that exist? I have looked everywhere I can think of and haven’t found anything yet. I am going from 3/4 galv- no threads to 3/4 galv- with threads or without and then to the meter base. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
the most common fitting that will connect the two pieces of pipe together is called a dresser, and it sounds like you have allready tried that. if the pressure pushed the dresser off, then the best sollution would be to dig up the dirt surrounding the pipe and try to unscrew it from the fitting that it is connected to, BUT, you may break that fitting off too. try tapping the fitting with a hammer before you attempt to unscrew the pipe. be sure to have something heavy on the other side of the fitting before you start hitting it, so as to provide backup for the blows the hammer will be delivering. I also thought you might try a brass compression adapter, meant to go onto 1″ copper pipe, that has either male or female threads on the other side. I THINK that 1″ copper pipe and 3/4″ galvanized pipe have the same outside diameter, not sure though. I think this would be more of a temporary fix, though.
