An Introduction of Classic Cat Eye Glasses
Although glasses producers and designers are always creating new styles and models to meet people’s needs, some old styles still remain popular over several years. Some of classic eye wears are still found nowadays. People with certain fashion experience and knowledge of the eyewear market may have seen cat eye glasses.
Cat eye glasses are a style of vintage glasses worn by women. Cat eye glasses, which get their name for the cat-eye shape of their frames, were incredibly popular during the 1950s and 1960s. Audrey Hepburn wore them in Breakfast at Tiffanys and other pop icons including Marilyn Monroe and Dame Edna contributed to the popularity and success of the cat eye frame. We all know that each style of eyewear has their unique and meaningful name which partly indicates its appearance.
Cat-eye eyewear has its particular feature or appearance. Generally speaking, they refer spectacles that are thick-rimmed and have arms joining the lenses at the very top corners. This classic design makes wearers of these glasses appear like cat’s eyes. The name of cat eye glasses is quite indicating that an effect of cat’s eye can be achieved. People in their middles ages now may remember that cat-eye eyewear just preceded the large bug-eye glasses which appeared widely in 1970s and 1980s.
In recent years cat eye glasses have come back into style. Many frame boutiques and glasses stores sell modern day takes on these popular retro eye glasses. In the 50s and 60s, point at the top edges of the cat eye glasses was very strong, and often included little decorations at the corners. Today’s cat eye frames are usually much more subtle.
