Solid Brass Shelf Brackets – Durable Designs for Heavy Duty Shelving
Installing new shelves around the home is a great solution for storage or display needs. Shelves come in a variety of sizes and materials and more importantly so do shelf brackets. The brackets holding up a shelf are just as (if not more) important than the shelf itself. Depending on what items the shelf is going to carry, using high quality shelf brackets is important to ensure that your books, bric-a-brac, dishes, etc. don’t end up broken on the floor.
A shelf bracket is designed to support the shelf on the wall. Depending on the design, a shelf bracket can be installed directly into the wall (this would need a stud behind it) or with drywall anchors. The number of shelf brackets needed depends on the weight the shelves are meant to carry and the length of the shelf. For example a long shelf that will hold books could require anywhere from 3 to 6 brackets. A smaller shelf can usually use 2 to 3 brackets.
Solid brass shelf brackets are a great way to introduce new designs into any room (such as the living room, bathroom or kitchen) and make an otherwise boring shelving system into a beautiful focal point of your design. Solid brass offers a wide variety of patterns ranging from intricate scroll work to wonderful Eastlake designs. Brass (and iron) is the best choice for heavy duty shelving because they are designed to hold higher weights without bending over time. Thinner materials can break or bend under normal wear and tear and the finishes can also become easily scratched.
Solid brass shelf brackets are a great way to solve storage problems while adding extra detail to your home. Look for solid brass construction (not simply brass plated) to ensure strength and be sure to ask questions. Many shelf brackets are sold individually – not by the pair – this is so you can get the exact quantity needed without having too many or few.
