The edge is printed in a pantone ink which is a special ink that is essentially like buying a paint can of ink. it is specially mixed so it always turns out the same. The edge and the type are either both pantone…. or colour matched cmyk composite.
I found out what it is. Sorry kids but its not coloured paper… Its called guilding! I talked to paper company and they said printers stack the paper and sponge colour to the edges. Thats how you get gold edging on your bible pages. Thanks for trying everyone! And look into guilding, its sooooo neat!
You cannot edge print. This is obviously a 2-color (white + grey) on yellow paper.If you tried to print full color on yellow paper, it wouldn’t look right. You can tell that it’s yellow paper because the yellow type on the card perfectly matches the edge, therefore the text was simply knocked out.
According to Reduced Printing (http://reducedprinting.com/printing101.html), CMYK is used for 4-color printing, and they print on white paper
