What is the correct way to put a footing in a cement patio slab?
Our contractor cut 2 squares into a patio slab and then hit them with a sledge hammer to pop them out. While he was hitting them he put a large crack in the rest of the patio. Is that the proper way to pop out the cement where the footing will be going?
Your contractor used the proper technique, he just didn’t cut all the way through with the saw, like he should have. By not cutting clear through and then hitting the cut-out area with a sledge hammer, he sent a shock wave throughout the rest of the concrete; thus causing it to crack.
You could hold him responsible for this damage!
