Electroplating an iPod?

What would be the simplest method for plating the metal part of an iPod with copper first, then zinc to make it a bright bronze. Obviously I would take it apart to only get the metal plated. I think it is stainless steel or nickel. I would prefer electroless rather than messing with batteries. Most of all I would prefer household stuff, so electroplating with batteries is ok if it is the simplest.
I have a pretty good knowledge of chemistry, so I know what your talking about
also cost is an issue

look up how to make “gold(actually bronze)” pennies. there is a way to coat them in zinc without using electricity after which you just heat it to make it bronze. you might be able to use the same technique for Zn too. if not, you could electroplate it with cu first you could do the Cu RXN on top and avoid 2 electro-chem RXNs. to coat steel in Cu i would try and get a copper sulfate solution (easily gotten from a chem lab). if you submerge the metal part on the Cop sulf. and hook up a few 6 volt batteries in parallel so you get a lot of current with the positive connected to the case and the negative in the solution, the electrons would flow from the solution to the metal reducing the ions to Cu metal and leaving them case.

I think that would work, I’d ask a chem teacher or major for help because my electro chem is a bit shaky but it sounds like you could pull it off.
