Fix for A Crooked Door Frame?
Bear in mind this is not my fault nor my doing.
The house I live has a back door that looks like the door frame has settled as on the left side all looks well but on the right side the gap is fairly large. About 7/8 of an inch. I can see light out of a section of it. What can I do to fix this? I live near the railroad tracks and cant help to think this may have had an effect on it. I dont think the hinges are sagging as the door is not rubbing on the ground at all. Any ideas??
You might try this. Get a small crow bar and see if you can get up underneath the frame and force it back up. If this works , I would get some wood shims from the hardware store and see if you can force them in to the gap. Just be carefull not to go up too high as you will then have problems with the door not shutting. You may have to pull the door off to give you some room. Also , if this will not work and the door shuts anyway , get a caulking gun and shoot a compound like liquid nails or something into the gap. Ask the hardware store for the right compound.
